What is the IPC?

India Peace Centre is an Inter-religious initiative constantly promoting values of peace and justice. It was founded in the year 1988 by Dr. Mathai Zachariah, former General Secretary of the NCC India on the belief that Peace is an experience of life which can be enhanced by promoting the culture of dialogue and understanding.

Our Concerns

The concerns of the India Peace Centre can be gathered in three clusters:

We aim to foster a deep respect for the natural world, promoting sustainable practices and advocating for policies that protect our planet’s ecosystems. Our goal is to ensure a healthy and thriving environment for present and future generations.

We are dedicated to understanding and preserving the intricate balance of ecological systems. Our efforts focus on raising awareness about biodiversity and supporting initiatives that maintain the health and resilience of our natural habitats.

We strive to promote responsible and sustainable energy solutions, advocating for the transition to renewable sources and efficient energy consumption. Our objective is to mitigate the environmental impact of energy production and use.

We are committed to working towards a world free from nuclear weapons and the threats they pose. Our goal is to advocate for disarmament and peaceful resolutions to international conflicts, raising awareness about the devastating consequences of nuclear proliferation.

We seek to build peaceful societies and promote alternatives to conflict. Our aim is to advocate for conflict resolution, dialogue, and non-violent approaches.

We actively campaign for global disarmament, believing that the reduction and elimination of weapons are essential for lasting peace. Our objective is to encourage international cooperation and agreements that lead to a secure world for all people.

We are dedicated to upholding and promoting the fundamental human rights of all individuals, advocating for equality, dignity, and justice. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can live free from discrimination and oppression.

We strive to address systemic injustices and promote social equity within communities and globally. Our objective is to advocate for fair legal systems that heal societal divides.

As our foundational principle, we aim to cultivate a culture of peace through inter-religious dialogue, understanding, and conflict resolution. Our goal is to empower individuals and communities to build harmonious relationships and create a world where peace is a lived experience.
