Introduction

India Peace Centre is an Inter-religious initiative constantly promoting values of peace and justice. It was founded in the year 1988 by Dr. Mathai Zachariah, former General Secretary of the NCC India on the belief that Peace is an experience of life which can be enhanced by promoting the culture of dialogue and understanding.

India Pece Centre creates space and opportunity for unity in diversity, catalysing peace with justice, development with dignity with core objective of Peace with human being and Peace with nature. Conceptualized in the form of an ashram, the India Peace Centre has come a long way in transforming life towards peace, dignity, and integrity. India Peace Centre engages itself in organizing regular discourses and dialogues on various emerging social and economic issues concerning peace. It organizes Peace Education Trainings, Interfaith School of Peace in various parts of India mainly for young people. India Peace Centre believes in interfaith dialogue and cooperation as important ways to achieve peace for all. Study and Research have been integral part of the India Peace Centre.

Initiated by the national Council of Churches in India with the accompaniment of the National Council of YMCAs in India, the National Council of YWCAs of India, Gandhi Peace Foundation and Catholic Bishops Conference of India, the centre has been committed to the objective of universal humanhood and universal peace.

To continue to create and build hope of a society with peaceful coexistence of all based on the values of respect, dignity, justice, and integrity and to help experience peace within and peace with others.

OUR STRUCTURAL CONTOUR

Our assemblage or ashram which is the Public charitable trust registered in 1988 was established to foster relations for better understanding between individuals and communities. Our ashram was constructed in a way to promote the ethos of traditional Indian ashram, in the city of Nagpur. Most of the projects and programs are organized in Nagpur, while a lot of programs are carried and implemented in others parts of India as well.

OUR AMENITIES

The Program office of the India Peace Centre in Nagpur is surrounded with greenery including tall trees and plants, lawn, kitchen garden and an old tree with a spiritual symbolic expression for Peace. It has a library with an excellent collection of books, an office and a conference room. It is very well quoted that “Not one can whistle a symphony; it takes a whole orchestra to play it”. Similarly, the India Peace Centre work collectively with like minded individuals, institutions and organizations.
